Job Description

Pay Breakdown:

  • $0.69 cpm (average 1,320 miles/week) – annual increases up to .75 cpm
  • $33 per stop (average 6 – 12 stops per week)
  • $125 per trailer for unload (average 3 per week)
  • $150 per day of training (average 1 week)
  • Performance Bonus:  Drivers have the potential to earn an average of $600 per quarter for being collision/injury/service failure free, receiving clean DOT inspections, positive observations, and for providing assistance at other accounts.
  • Average Weekly Gross:  $1,582
  • Average Yearly Gross:  $82,246 (this includes up to $4750 performance bonus based on safety and service)
  • Top Earners Annually Gross:  $98k!

Time Off / Shift

  • Schedule:  34-hour reset – “typically” includes 1 weekend day, however, weekend time off is not guaranteed each week
  • Drivers will reset away from home 1 – 2 times a year
  • Start Time:  Mostly Day Driving – account wants drivers shut down before 2100
  • Shift:  8 – 10 hours
  • Holidays:  Drivers are required to work on holidays, unless vacation time is submitted

Position Details:

  • Delivering freight from the distribution center in Rome, NY to retails stores in CT, MA, ME, NH, NJ, NY (includes NYC/Long Island – typically required 3 – 4 times a year), PA, RI, VT
  • Average 3 loads per week – (1 – 6 stops per load)

Special Requirements:

  • Drivers will unload freight into stores using a roller system
  • Trailers contain 2500 – 2800 cases stacked from floor to ceiling
  • Uniforms are provided (7 shirts – 1 jacket)

Qualifications

Moving Violations:

  • No more than 3 in the last 3 years

DOT Recordable Accidents:

  • No more than 3 minor accidents/incidents in the past 3 years
  • No more than 1 highway accident in the past year
  • No major preventable in the last 3 years

* Major Preventable Accident Definition – Damage totaling $25,000 or more

Incidents: 

  • No more than 3 incidents in the last 3 years

Ticket / Accident / Incident Combo

  • No more than 3 accidents and/or tickets
  • No more than one preventable with less than 12 months of experience

Maximum Major Moving Violation

  • No more than 1 serious moving violation in the last 3 years

Major Moving Violations- that are automatic DQ’s

  • No careless or reckless driving convictions in the last 3 years
  • No rear end or roll over accidents in the last 3 years

Max. Number of Jobs

  • No more than 6 in the last 3 years
  • The number of jobs can exceed 6 if the applicant just went to orientation, or they had a lay-off, or worked somewhere for over a year.

Policy Against Unemployment

  • No more than 22 months of unemployment in the last 3 years

Terminated Applicants

  • Will not consider if terminated due to safety
  • Will consider terminated applicants if it was not safety related
  • 12 months Class A safe driving required since termination if the term was for accidents
  • If the term was a non-accident related safety issue, it’s usually 6 months safe driving since the term

Felony Convictions

  • All criminal convictions are reviewed on an individual basis as part of an overall review of the file.
  • Felony drug charges must be outside of 7 years

Misdemeanors

  • All criminal convictions are reviewed on an individual basis as part of an overall review of the file.

DUI/DWI

  • No more than 1 and it must be outside of 5 years old
  • If Driver has 2 DUI’s, they will be considered if both are prior to 2002
  • Drivers with a DUI/DWI in a CMV may be considered for employment with appropriate SAP paperwork.
