Job Description:

PAY

  • $0.54 / mile – avg 1900 miles
  • $36 / delivery stop – avg 10 stops
  • Weekly avg $1,386
  • Yearly avg $73,000

Performance Bonus:  Drivers will have an opportunity to earn an additional $500/quarter through the end of the year! – Bonus Criteria

  1. No customer complaints
  2. No missing paperwork or signatures
  3. No preventable collision
  4. No PPE (personal protective equipment – steel toe boots, reflective vest) infractions
  5. Extra $25 per quarter if we receives a call or email with a driver complement
  • Top earner pay $85,000 – Drivers hit this with more activity such as miles/stops and Saturday work
  • Holiday Pay: $200/day
  • Training: Approximately 5 days, $250/day – Training time will depend on the skill set of the driver and how quickly he/she catches on

TIME OFF / SHIFT

  • Will work 5 days and be off 2
  • Drivers are typically off Saturday and Sunday 
  • Start time will depend on the route the driver is on – these times vary from 0200 – 1000
  • Drivers will work 12 – 14 hour shifts
  • Driver PTO:  Immediately (1.5 hours per week), 6th Anniversary (2.3hours per week), 19th Anniversary (3 hours per week)

POSITION DETAILS

Food istributor based in Rochester, New York and carries an extensive line of frozen, refrigerated, and dry food products. They also provide all of the paper goods needed to prepare, serve and display products.

  • Delivering mostly refrigerated grocery products
  • Food & restaurant supply deliveries
  • This is a delivery position with strong focus on customer service.  Drivers build relationships with the customers
  • Consistent  Route allows for the relationships to be built
  • 60% of loads are preloaded and 40% will be live load
  • 100% driver unload
  • Physically demanding job with constant bending and lifting

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Driver unload required using dolly, electric pallet jack – can typically take about 1-2 hrs per stop with several trips up and down the ramp
  • Unload trailer and put all items in their designated area – Rotating freezer stock
  • Deliveries go to stand alone restaurants, shopping centers, malls – these areas are tight backing spaces
  • Drivers will also have accounts that are Cash On Delivery – Driver will collect cash in some instances

Qualifications

Moving Violations:

  • No more than 3 in the last 3 years

DOT Recordable Accidents:

  • No more than 3 minor accidents/incidents in the past 3 years
  • No more than 1 highway accident in the past year
  • No major preventable in the last 3 years

* Major Preventable Accident Definition – Damage totaling $25,000 or more

Incidents: 

  • No more than 3 incidents in the last 3 years

Ticket / Accident / Incident Combo

  • No more than 3 accidents and/or tickets
  • No more than one preventable with less than 12 months of experience

Maximum Major Moving Violation

  • No more than 1 serious moving violation in the last 3 years

Major Moving Violations- that are automatic DQ’s

  • No careless or reckless driving convictions in the last 3 years
  • No rear end or roll over accidents in the last 3 years

Max. Number of Jobs

  • No more than 6 in the last 3 years
  • The number of jobs can exceed 6 if the applicant just went to orientation, or they had a lay-off, or worked somewhere for over a year.

Policy Against Unemployment

  • No more than 22 months of unemployment in the last 3 years

Terminated Applicants

  • Will not consider if terminated due to safety
  • Will consider terminated applicants if it was not safety related
  • 12 months Class A safe driving required since termination if the term was for accidents
  • If the term was a non-accident related safety issue, it’s usually 6 months safe driving since the term

Felony Convictions

  • All criminal convictions are reviewed on an individual basis as part of an overall review of the file.
  • Felony drug charges must be outside of 7 years

Misdemeanors

  • All criminal convictions are reviewed on an individual basis as part of an overall review of the file.

DUI/DWI

  • No more than 1 and it must be outside of 5 years old
  • If Driver has 2 DUI’s, they will be considered if both are prior to 2002
  • Drivers with a DUI/DWI in a CMV may be considered for employment with appropriate SAP paperwork.
