Intermodal drivers also receive access to competitive benefit packages including options for an individual or a family with offerings including medical, dental, prescription and more. Drivers also begin accruing paid time off from day one.

Pay:

  • $1350 weekly avg.
  • $68k – $72k yearly avg – TOP earners make $92,000
  • Training will last 5 days and is payable at $150 per day – The trainer will contact you shortly after completing orientation. They will schedule a time at the beginning of the following week to pick you up from home and begin your training. During training, your trainer will take you to your assigned truck to complete an inspection and schedule it to be detailed.

Time off / shift:

  • Up to 48 hours off in a rolling week –  Example: Start Tuesday at 0500, then home Sunday at 0500 and driver can be off UP TO 48 hours upon arrival at home.
  • Home Time: All new drivers will need to work Tuesday – Saturday taking off Sun/Mon or a schedule where they have two week days for home time.  There is a $150/week worked bonus to drivers that work Thursday-Monday or Friday – Tuesday (7.8K per year).  This is an activity based bonus, so it will only be paid out when drivers work 5 full days on the schedule. 
  • It is possible to get home during the week for 10 hour break – not guaranteed. Drivers who live within 25 miles of Minneapolis would have a slightly better chance of this due to freight volumes in these areas.
  • Drivers will have their original schedule for a minimum of 12 months.

Position details:

  • We operate mainly in and out of the Chicago area rails but also do some work out of the St. Paul rail. primarily running Iowa (45%), Minnesota (25%), Wisconsin (25%), and Southern Illinois (5%)
  • All freight is on Container/Chassis combination
  • Loads are pre-planned several hours in advance and if ETA’s are set correctly, driver should be preplanned before arrival to allow driver to keep rolling.

Special requirements:

  • Hazmat is required within 60 days of hire – ramp will reimburse the cost

Additional details:

  • No touch freight.
  • 70% drop/hook, 30% live load/unload.
  • Drivers will operate conventional mid-roof sleepers, that cruise at 65 m.p.h.
  • Average age of the trucks are 2.5 years old and range from new to 5 years old
  • Riders allowed after 90 days of employment.

Drivers need only 6 months experience.

 

Qualifications

 

Moving Violations

  • No more than 3 in the last 3 years

* Based on the offense date

Policy on License suspensions

  • No more than 30 days in the last 3 years for moving violation
  • No more than 12 months in the last 3 years for non-moving violation
  • Must have a valid license for 2 out of last 3 years

DOT Recordable Accidents

  • No more than 3 minor accidents/incidents in the past 3 years
  • No more than 1 highway accident in the past year
  • No major preventable in the last 3 years

* Major Preventable Accident Definition – Damage totaling $25,000 or more

Ticket / Accident / Incident Combo

  • No more than 3 accidents and/or tickets
  • No more than one preventable with less than 12 months of experience

Major Moving Violations- that are automatic DQ’s

  • No careless or reckless driving convictions in the last 3 years
  • No rear end or roll over accidents in the last 3 years

Policy Against Unemployment- even if it is accounted for

  • No more than 22 months of unemployment in the last 3 years

Felony Convictions

  • All criminal convictions are reviewed on an individual basis as part of an overall review of the file.
  • Felony drug charges must be outside of 7 years

Misdemeanors

  •  All criminal convictions are reviewed on an individual basis as part of an overall review of the file.

DUI/DWI

  • No more than 1 and it must be outside of 5 years old
  • If Driver has 2 DUI’s, they will be considered if both are prior to 2002
  • Drivers with a DUI/DWI in a CMV may be considered for employment with appropriate SAP paperwork.

  • Must have 1 year of safe Driving since completing an SAP program
