Intermodal Class A Drivers Needed – Jersey City NJ – Local Position – Home Daily

Pay

• $70,000 yearly avg – Top 10% make $80,000+
• Ramp Specific Training After Orientation:  We do a minimum of 5 days training, but it depends on the driver and we’ll keep them out as long as they need to feel comfortable. We pay them activity based pay just like if they were driving the truck.

Time Off/Shift

• Thursday – Monday (off Tu/We)  or Friday – Tuesday (off Wed/Thurs)
• Sunday – Thursday (off Fr/Sa)  or Tuesday – Saturday (off Su/Mo)
• Drivers can choose their days off.
• 2am – 11am start time – Must be flexible for start times – Drivers need to be flexible to occasionally run other shift as needed
• Drivers can expect to work 10-11 hour days.
• Home daily.
• Work on days off is optional

Position details:

• Will take loaded rail containers from the ramp to customers within a 250 mile radius
• Will also pick up loaded containers to bring back to the ramp for shipment across the U.S.
• Service area includes, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, Staten Island, Long Island. PA, NY and CT.

Special requirements:

• Drivers have 60 days to get the HAZMAT endorsement after being scheduled.
•  **Must be able and willing to drive/operate within 250 miles of Jersey City NJ & Elizabeth NJ – including Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, Staten Island, Long Island, PA, NY and CT. Drivers may not exclude themselves from going to any of the operating areas or refuse any dispatches that they can safely and legally service **

Additional information:

• Drivers that live in NY are not eligible for this position – drivers must live in New Jersey to qualify
• Truck stays at the yard for time off.
• We do not allow riders on this position.
• This is a slip seat operation.

Qualifications

Moving Violations

• No more than 3 in the last 3 years

* Based on the offense date

Policy on License suspensions

• No more than 30 days in the last 3 years for moving violation

• No more than 12 months in the last 3 years for non-moving violation

• Must have a valid license for 2 out of last 3 years

DOT Recordable Accidents

• No more than 3 minor accidents/incidents in the past 3 years

• No more than 1 highway accident in the past year

• No major preventable in the last 3 years

* Major Preventable Accident Definition – Damage totaling $25,000 or more

Ticket / Accident / Incident Combo

• No more than 3 accidents and/or tickets

• No more than one preventable with less than 12 months of experience

Major Moving Violations- that are automatic DQ’s

• No careless or reckless driving convictions in the last 3 years

• No rear end or roll over accidents in the last 3 years

Policy Against Unemployment- even if it is accounted for

• No more than 22 months of unemployment in the last 3 years

Felony Convictions

• All criminal convictions are reviewed on an individual basis as part of an overall review of the file.

• Felony drug charges must be outside of 7 years

Misdemeanors

•  All criminal convictions are reviewed on an individual basis as part of an overall review of the file.

DUI/DWI

• No more than 1 and it must be outside of 5 years old

• If Driver has 2 DUI’s, they will be considered if both are prior to 2002

• Drivers with a DUI/DWI in a CMV may be considered for employment with appropriate SAP paperwork.
